There are various causes of hair loss or baldness, such as genetic traits, hormonal change, stressful conditions, medication, daily lifestyle, etc. According to the life cycle of the hair, 90% of the hair is in the growing stage and 10% is in the resting phase which has stopped growing and will then fall off within 3 months, and this phase usually causes baldness.

Nowadays, hair transplantation is recognized all over the world as a technique that provides natural looking hair. There are 2 hair transplantation techniques that doctors will consider for patients based on the hair condition of their patients.

2 hair transplantation techniques to restore your confidence

1. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
FUE technique is a modern hair transplant method that is very popular throughout the world. This technique has been recognized as the most effective and provides natural looking results nowadays. It is a minimally invasive hair transplantation technique that be performed by a small instrument of 1.2 mm in size. The follicular unit grafts (hair follicles) are individually removed from the donor areas, such as the mustache, beard, chest hair, arm hair, leg hair, etc., and is then individually transplanted to the recipient area.
FUE principles are as follows:
• Shaving hair in the donor area.
• Using the small instrument like a tweezers of 0.8-1.2 mm in size to remove individual follicular units (graft) from the donor area of the scalp.
• Placing the graft into the recipient area.
• No stitches; the donor area appears mostly unchanged within days.

2. Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)
FUT technique is a surgical procedure with hair being transplanted from the scalp of the back part of the head which have strong roots and have a long life, into the problem areas of the head. This method is suited for bald people with genetic traits. The principles are as follows:

• The doctor cuts a strip of tissue from the scalp of the back part of the head.
• Then the strip of tissue is cut into thousands of follicular units.
• These units are then strategically placed around the head.
• The scalp wound on the back part of the head will be sutured with self-dissolving threads.
•  The scalp scar like a straight line on the back part of the head can be covered with long hair.

• Do not touch, clean the surgery site or wash hair for the first 24 hours after the surgery.
• Avoid washing hair with shampoo for the first 24 hours of the surgery.
• Sleep with the head elevated on pillows for the first 2-3 days after the procedure.
