Silicone bag surface types: including 
1. Smooth-surface 
2. Textured surface like fine sandpaper

The difference between 2 types are that the smooth surface silicone creates more natural breasts and provides a lower chance of rippling once placed, whereas with the textured silicone the surface of the implant adheres to the tissue around it, keeping them in their initial position. However, success of breast augmentation does not only depend on the silicone surface but it also relies on the surgical technique as well.

Placement of the implant (either or under-the-muscle)
1. Over the Muscle (Subglandular)

There are different advantages between 2 techniques. The subglandular technique provides soft and natural looks, while the submuscular technique provides firmer breasts and reduces the chance of sagging breasts. Breast massage of the submuscular technique is more often required compared to the subglandular technique. Your natural breast shape will be considered by a surgeon to choose an appropriate technique for you.

Location of the incision consists of 3 methods, as follows: 
1. Inframammary incisions (just below the crease at the base of the breast)
2. Periareolar incisions (along the border of the lower half of the areola)
3. Transaxillary incisions (in the armpit)
Incision and wound sizes depend on postoperative care and the surgeon’s technique. 

What are the procedures used in breast augmentation surgery?

• Your plastic surgeon will make in depth explanation about the risks associated with the surgery, as well as sites for placing breast augmentation.

• Your surgeon will explain to you about the specification of breast implant (silicone), sizes, and advantages and disadvantages.

• Your surgeon will appoint you to have the surgery after you’ve decided on type, size, and incision site.​

Surgery time 
      About 1 - 2 hours, the procedure is performed under general anesthesia.

Post-Operative Care

• Follow post-operative care instructions strictly.

• Clean body by wiping for 7 days. You can resume taking shower 7 days after the surgery. You don’t need to clean the surgical wounds until you have a follow-up meeting with the surgeon.

• Avoid lifting heavy objects in the first month.

• Let bandages remain for 2 weeks.

• Avoid wearing underwire bras for 2 weeks. You can use a sports bra instead.

• Perform breast massage by the doctor’s instructions, for 20-30 minutes, twice a day, for 6 months, and every other day after the 6^th month.

• Follow up with your doctor, and contact your doctor immediately if there are any abnormal signs.​
